Why the Crocotta?

Whenever I’m idly looking at my blog stats I often see that people have found their way here using ‘crocotta’ as the search term. I (briefly) discussed it as part of my Scales of War reviews, but apart from that I’ve no exposure to the term. Is there more to it than just a simple low level D&D monster?

As you say the crocotta makes an appearance in Den of the Destroyer, which I think you reviewed. Must admit, I googled the name myself as I had no idea what they were or looked like (and they don’t appear in any of the monster manuals) whilst I was prepping to run the module.

    It’s a mythical, Indian wolf-dog according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocotta
